Mary Margaret Morris was born in Coshocton County, Ohio on the 29th day of April 1838, and died at her house one mile north of Stanhope on the afternoon of July 24th, 1906. Age 68 years 2 months and 25 days.

The deceased was married to William A. East the 3rd day of August 1869, in Monroe County, Indiana. She was the mother of a large family, two boys and six girls, six of which survive her, one dying in infancy and one, Ira F. a young man dying on March 11th 1889. Her husband having passed to the great beyond about four years ago.

She, with her husband and family, moved from Indiana to Iowa in March 1876 where she has since resided.

She had a very clear conversion when she was eighteen years of age, and for fifty years has been an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She died in the triumph of a living faith. She rests from her labors and her works do follow her.
