Mrs. Mark Bishop, 95, a longtime resident of Hamilton county, died at 5:30 this morning at the Hamilton county hospital. She had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home. Dr. R.D. Kitterman will officiate and burial will be in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

Sarah Ellen East, the daughter of William A. and Mary Margaret East, was born Oct. 10, 1866, in Greene county, Ind. In 1876 she came with her parents to Iowa locating on a farm near Stanhope.

She was reared and educated in the Stanhope community. For many years she worked as a seamstress in the Stanhope area.

She was united in marriage Sept. 13, 1899, to Mark Bishop and, with the exception of a few years when Mr. and Mrs. Bishop farmed in Story and Mitchell counties, they had always resided in Hamilton county.

They farmed in Cass twp. from 1927 to 1945 when they retired and moved to Webster City to their home at 816 Cedar street. Mrs. Bishop is survived by one daughter, Miss Nina Bishop of Webster City, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 20, 1959. Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Lola Dell, who died in infancy; one son, Thornton Gurney Bishop, who died at the age of 3; by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Methodist church.
