Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Monday, September 25, 1961

Mrs. Elmer Snyder, 57, longtime Stanhope resident, died at 8 a.m. today at her home one mile west of Stanhope. She had been in failing health the past year.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. W.E. Carlson officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Wednesday at which time it will be taken to the church.

Clara Cecilia Berglund, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Berglund, was born July 24, 1904 on a farm south of Stratford. She was reared and educated in the Stratford community.

She was united in marriage Jan. 31, 1925 to Elmer Snyder and the couple had always farmed in the Stanhope community.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Richard Snyder of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren, David, Richard and Jeffrey Snyder; three brothers and five sisters, Eric Berglund, Stanhope, Gus and Verne Berglund, both of Stratford, Mrs. Carl Kane, Stratford, Mrs. Gilbert Larson, Boxholm, Miss Minnie Johnson and Mrs. Esther Hall, both of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Bessie Peterson of Long Beach, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

She was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and was very active in library work in the Stanhope community. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.
