Bernard "Red" Long, 76, of Webster City, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Van Diest Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Faith United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Slininger officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City.
Bernard Luane Long, the son of Georgie and Ione Bass Long was born on July 12, 1940 in Dayton. On August 9, 1958 he married Esther Lucille Range in Duncombe. The couple resided in Lehigh and Webster City. Bernard retired after working 44 years for Electrolux.
Survivors include his wife, Esther of Webster City; daughter, Kim Grace of Webster City; son, Allen (Elaina) Long of Sheldon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Annabelle Fuller of Webster City, Peggy (Edd) Russell of Kinston, NC, Sharon (Alan) Watts of Ellsworth, Pam (Wayne) Hibbs of Lehigh, Sandy Gordon of Kamrar; his therapy dog, Peanut; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Clabaugh; grandson, David Alan Long; brothers-in-law, Ed Clabaugh and Calvin Gordon.
Bernard was a member of the Kamrar United Methodist Church, Pheasants Forever, Kamrar Lions, UAW Local 442 and Ducks Unlimited.
