Mrs. Esther A. Knight, 85, longtime Stanhope resident, died Monday evening at Crestview Manor where she had resided for four months following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Christian church in Stanhope with Rev. David Burright officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 9 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church.

Esther Amelia Sorenson, daughter of Jacob and Melinda Johnson Sorenson, was born Jan. 23, 1894, on a farm south of Stanhope. She was reared and educated in the Stanhope area.

She was married Feb. 28, 1912 to Eugene S. Knight, and the couple farmed in the Stanhope area. She was preceded in death by her husband in February, 1965. She continued to reside on the family farm near Stanhope until moving to Crestview Manor four months ago.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John (Orzelle) Kaufmann, Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Cleo Bell of Stratford, Mrs. Herbert (Bonnie) Granville, Webster City, Mrs. Albert (Helen) Hove, Stanhope; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Cowen, Louisville, Ky., and one brother, Harris Sorenson of LaJara, Colo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister, George Sorenson, Loren Sorenson and Earl Sorenson and Helen E. Scott.

She was a member of the Christian church of Stanhope and a former member of the Christian Women's Fellowship.
