Funeral services for Eugene A. Johnson, 51, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. Carroll Lang and Rev. Dwight McElree officiating. Burial was in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

Foster's Funeral home had charge of the services.

Mr. Johnson, a longtime Stanhope resident, died Saturday morning at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames.

Eugene Arnold Johnson, son of Orvie and Jeanette Okland Johnson, was born Sept. 20, 1930 at Randall. He was reared and educated at Stanhope, graduating from Stanhope high school in 1948.

He served with the U.S. Air Force for four years and was married to Wilma Hildal on April 12, 1958 at Jewell.

He was with the Quaker Oats Co. in Stanhope until 1965 at which time he owned and operated the Stanhope Dairy, delivered Swiss Valley products and also farmed south of Stanhope.

He is survived by his wife; four sons and two daughters: Craig, Kyle, Clark and Troy Johnson, at home, and Amy and Beth Johnson, both of Madrid, Iowa; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orvie Johnson of Stanhope; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Berwyn (Beverly) McCaskey of Ames, Dan Johnson of Duncombe and Mrs. David (Bonnie) Samuelson of Jefferson.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.
