Charles E. Hove, 77, of Story City died June 16, 2004 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Saturday at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City and St. Paul's Lutheran Free Church in rural Jewell. Burial was held at Lawn Hill Cemetery in rural Stanhope.

Charles farmed in rural Stanhope for many years; until moving to Bethany Manor 7 years ago. He was a graduate of Stanhope High School and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Charles served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. He married Doris Conger on August 5, 1956 in Adel.

Charles was a life long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Free Church, a member of Farmers Coop Elevator Board for many years and many other organizations.

He is survived by a son, David (Leah) Hove of rural Jewell; a daughter, Susan (Bradley) Olson of Story City; two granddaughters, Brooke and Jamie Olson; a sister, Elizabeth (Alvin) Johnson of Arlington Heights, IL; and a brother, Gordon (Lois) Hove of rural Stanhope and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris.
