Glenn Hinds, 78, a longtime Stratford-Stanhope area resident, died suddenly Monday evening at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He had been in failing health the past few years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Christian church in Stanhope with the Rev. Elmer Baker officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery southeast of Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when it will be taken to the church.

Glenn Floyd Hinds, son of Andrew G. and Sarah Mulnix Hinds, was born Feb. 6, 1894, at Ellendale, N.D. When he was a small child, he moved to Thompson, Ill., with his family and was reared and educated in that community.

He was united in marriage Feb. 5, 1916, to Lucy Ann Sanburn at Thompson, Ill., where the couple resided until 1921, moving then to the Stratford-Stanhope area where they had farmed since.

Mr. Hinds retired in 1959 and the couple continued to make their home on the family farm. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1966.

Mrs. Hinds preceded him in death June 29, 1970.

He is survived by two sons, Loren Hinds of Stratford and Maurice Hinds of Union, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Irving Hinds of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Edith Sterenberg, Sterling, Ill., and Mrs. Helen Rasmussen of Clinton, Iowa.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter; one granddaughter; his parents and one sister.

He was a member of the Christian church at Stanhope. He was a past director of the Stratford Grain Supply Co-op, and he was active in Farm Bureau work.
