Amanda Charlotte Peterson, daughter of Otto and Clara Peterson, was born Sept. 26, 1876 at Gasteland, Sweden. She came to Iowa with her parents and family at the age of four. The family settled near Stanhope on what is still known as the Otto Peterson farm, and she was reared and educated in that community.

She was united in marriage to John A. Forsberg in 1898, and the couple lived in Stanhope for one year, then purchased a farm southwest of Stanhope, known as the Forsberg farm, and resided there for 25 years.

They then retired and moved to Boone where they had purchased a home. Following the death of a daughter, Mrs. Fred Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Forsberg moved back to the farm to care for Mrs. Becker's two small children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1939, and following his death she moved to Stanhope where she had purchased a residence and where she had resided since.

Mrs. Forsberg is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. Fred (Maybelle) Long, Stanhope, Mrs. William (Violet) Halterman, Des Moines and Clarence L. Forsberg, Stanhope; one brother, Emil Peterson of Stratford, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Becker; one sister, Mrs. Ben Challe, and two brothers, Albert and Ernest Peterson.

She was a member of the Grace Methodist church in Stanhope, and attended services there as long as her health permitted.
