LaVonne Hove Erickson, 77, of Stanhope, died Tuesday, September 8, 1998 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Friday, September 11 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope. Burial was in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope.

LaVonne Helen Wills, daughter of Henry and Ardalene Rountree Wills, was born January 18, 1921 on a farm north of Stanhope. She attended rural schools near Radcliffe and also attended Radcliffe High School.

On September 18, 1940, she married Melford Arnold Hove at Stanhope. For several years she operated LaVonne's Cafe in Stanhope. They retired in February of 1983. Mr. Hove died on May 25, 1987.

On October 12, 1990 she married George Erickson at Stanhope. The couple resided on a farm near Stratford. They moved to Stanhope in 1997.

She is survived by her husband, George; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Roger Peter of Webster City; Mary and James Kepler of Webster City; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Linda Hove of Kewanee, IL.; Harold and Marcia Hove of Stanhope; step-children Elaine and Gary Signs of Perry; Darrell and Barbara Erickson of Ames; Barbara Erickson of Stratford; Donna Wilson of Ames.

Other survivors include 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 9 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Wills of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Caroline Fuller of Stanhope; Lois Varland of Radcliffe and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Christy Kepler; sisters, Leona Clabaugh, Muriel Neese, Emma Atwater and Velma Wills; brothers, Sterling Wills and Lester Wills and a step-granddaughter.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was active in church circle work.

Foster Funeral Home in Webster City handled the arrangements.
