Rita Clausen, 78, Gowrie and a former Stanhope resident, died Aug. 7, 1995, at the Gowrie Care Center. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight. A committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawn Hill Cemetery in Stanhope, with Rev. Richard Morris officiating.

Rita Helen Powers, daughter of Thomas and Anne Hanrahan Powers, was born Nov. 23, 1916 on a farm south of Duncombe. She attended the Border Plains Rural School and high school in Fort Dodge. She married Carl Clausen in Duncombe. She was employed for 21 years at the Hamilton County Public Hospital in several different departments and retired in 1974. Her husband died in April of 1976. She had resided in Stanhope for many years prior to moving to Gowrie in July.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Ellen and Peter Johnson, Mesa, Ariz.; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Ethel Clausen, Stanhope; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister Pauline Shafer, Fort Dodge; brother William "Pat" Powers, Duncombe; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother Paul "Mike" Powers; and sister Marjorie Huss.
