LeRoy Clabaugh, 75, longtime Stanhope area resident, died early Tuesday afternoon at the Ledges Manor Nursing home in Boone, where he had been residing the past eight months.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Christian church in Stanhope with the Rev. Richard L. Miller officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the church.

LeRoy Clabaugh, son of Willis Wilfred and Minnie Olson Clabaugh, was born Nov. 7, 1900 near Kamrar, where he was reared and educated.

He was united in marriage on Jan. 2, 1924, to Leona Wills, and the couple farmed in the Stanhope and Kamrar areas until 1948 when they moved into Stanhope.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters and one son: Mrs. Donald (Darlene) Berry of Webster City, Iowa; Richard L. Clabaugh of Stanhope and Mrs. Ben (Lorene) Franklin of Boone; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by three brothers: Guy Clabaugh of Webster City, Ralph Clabaugh of Iowa Falls and Charles Clabaugh of Stanhope.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Mr. Clabaugh was baptized at the Methodist church in Kamrar and had attended the Christian church in Stanhope.

He was a charter member of the Stanhope Lions club.
