Vera Carlson, 97, of Webster City, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 at Crestview Manor in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stanhope Parish, with Pastor Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. Arrangements were made by the Foster Funeral Home.

Vera Marie Vaubel, daughter of Louis and Emma Bertels Vaubel, was born June 14, 1905 at Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City schools. On June 14, 1927, she married Ferman LeRoy Carlson at Webster City. The couple farmed west of Stanhope. She was a homemaker. Mr. Carlson died Aug. 11, 1979. She moved to Crestview Manor in September of 2000.

Mrs. Carlson is survived by a son, Roger Carlson, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dale Ahrens, all of Stratford; grandchildren, Brian and Linda Ahrens of Madrid; Brook and Julie Ahrens of Stratford; great-grandchildren, Tjaden, Tyler and Dillan Ahrens; two step-great-grandchildren, Cory and Adam Wingerson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Estille and Harley Vaubel.

She was a member of the Stanhope Parish, Stanhope Senior Citizens, a former member of the Royal Neighbors and Farm Bureau.
