Ferman L. Carlson, 76, lifelong Stanhope area resident, died early Saturday afternoon at the Boone county hospital where he had been a patient for four days.

He had been in ill health the past five months.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian church at Stanhope with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

Friends may call at the Funeral home until 9 o'clock this evening, and the body will be taken to the church in the morning. The Rev. David Burright will officiate at the services.

Ferman LeRoy Carlson, son of C.J.E. and Emma Lindquist Carlson, was born June 1, 1903 on the home farm two miles west of Stanhope. He was reared and educated in the Stanhope community.

He was married June 15, 1927 to Vera Vaubel at Webster City and the couple resided on the family farm ever since.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Roger of Marshalltown, and a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Donna) Ahrens of Stratford; two grandsons, Brian Lee Ahrens and Brook Jon Ahrens of Stratford; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Rexroat, Stratford, Mrs. Pearl Nelson, Fort Dodge and Mrs. Estelle Reinhardt of Aurelia, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Violet Carlson of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Archie Carlson.

He was a member of the Christian church in Stanhope; the Stanhope Lions club and the Senior Citizens club.

He belonged to the A.A.R.P. club in Boone.
