Arthur F. Bockwoldt, 75, a lifelong resident of the Stanhope community died Thursday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past two weeks and in ill health the past 10 months.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, when it will be taken to the church.

Arthur F. Bockwoldt, son of Frank and Johanna Reischauer Bockwoldt, was born Dec. 16, 1897 on a farm near Stanhope and was reared and educated in the Stanhope community. He later attended Iowa State college at Ames.

He was united in marriage March 19, 1923 to Gertrude Hoversten, and the couple farmed in the Stanhope area for many years.

Mr. Bockwoldt had formerly served as a member of the board of directors of the Stanhope Farmers Cooperative Elevator, the Bethany Manor Lutheran home in Story City, the Hamilton County Fair association, the Hamilton County Farm Bureau, of which he was a former president; and was a member of the Stanhope Lions club.

He is survived by one son and one daughter, Kenneth C. Bockwoldt of Stanhope and Mrs. Herbert (Margaret) Christensen of River Falls, Wis. and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in January, 1973; his parents; two sisters and one brother.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.
