Claire Peterson Baldwin, 94, Webster City, died Feb. 16, 1995 at Crestview Manor Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church in Stanhope with Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral home until 8 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Claire Groves, daughter of Jackson and Sarah (Branch) Groves, was born Dec. 14, 1900 on a farm north of Stanhope. She attended Grandview Rural School. In 1915, she moved with her parents to Stanhope, graduating from Stanhope High School in 1920. She was employed for a short time at the Stanhope Post Office.

On Aug. 17, 1921 she married Archie Peterson at Stanhope. The couple farmed south of Stanhope. She was a homemaker. Her husband died in September of 1963. She continued to reside on the family farm until 1966 when she moved to Branson, Mo.

On Oct. 20, 1967 she married John Baldwin. The couple resided at Branson. He died in 1973 and she returned to Stanhope in 1986. She had resided at Crestview Apartments since May 1991.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Eugene Markland of Norfolk, Neb. and Norma and George Aumock of Madison, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Jean Peterson Daniell of Branson; extended family, Dale and Margaret Hanson of Stanhope; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Maynard Peterson in 1986; parents; brother, Leslie Groves; and sister, Hazel Deakman.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Royal Neighbors of America.
