STRATFORD - Alvin Anderson, 73, died Thursday at the Hamilton County hospital after a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hanson Funeral home in Stratford with the Rev. Robert Karl Miller of the Stanhope Christian church officiating. Burial will be in the Stanhope [Lawn Hill] cemetery.

Alvin Anderson, son of Charles and Ida Anderson, was born and raised in the Stanhope community, and for many years engaged in the shoemaking trade before retiring about seven years ago.

He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Esther Peterson of Webster City, and several cousins.
