Mary Wood, 83, Williams, died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at Grand Avenue Care Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams, with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Williams. Surls Funeral Home of Williams was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Marcella Wood, daughter of Fielding and Honor (Doyle) Wood, was born Jan. 25, 1915 in rural Williams. She attended country school and graduated from Williams High School in 1933. She had lived in the Williams area all her life, and was employed at the Hamilton County Courthouse for many years.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Leona Wood of St. Ansgar; nieces, Leona Snider and husband Wendell, Hastings, Minn., Theresa Minard, Jeri Minard, Janet Wood, St. Ansgar, and Joan Wood, Rochester, Minn., great-nieces and nephews, two great-great-nephews; and special friend, Marilyn Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lyle, sister, Vylice, and two nephews, John and Daryl Minard.

Ms Wood was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church at Williams.
