Philip Alfred Walsh, 76, of Des Moines, a retired Williams area farmer, died Friday afternoon at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where he had been a patient the last ten days. He had been in ill health for the past six months.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams with Father C.S. Kruse officiating and burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Williams. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home.

Philip Alfred Walsh, the son of John and Catherine Comisky Walsh, was born June 27, 1903 at Lostant, Ill. At the age of two, he came to Williams with his parents and was reared and educated in the Williams area. In 1927 he was married to Lenore DeMoss. The couple farmed near Williams and he was preceded in death by his wife in 1957. He retired in 1965, moving to Des Moines.

May 22, 1971 he was married to Florence McMurray Hanson and the couple lived in Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter and one son, John Walsh and Phyllis Walsh, both of Des Moines; one stepson and one step-daughter, LeRoy Hanson and Mrs. John (Shirley) Johnson, also both of Des Moines; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Virgil (Nellie) Boozell of Webster City, Mrs. Marcella Keigan of Litchfield, Minn., James Walsh, Long Beach, Calif., and Edward Walsh of Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church at Urbandale.
