Services for Thomas Edward Uthe were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams, Friday morning at 10 o'clock, August 25, 1950, with a solemn requiem high mass with the Rev. F.W. McKinley, pastor, as celebrant. Rev. D.A. Gorman, Webster City, was deacon, and the Rev. John P. Fagan, Gilbert, Sub-deacon. Acolytes were John Ricke, Gessley Keane, Richard Holtkamp and Jerry Doyle.

Mrs. Lawrence Ricke, Mrs. Lee Murphy, Urban Hames and Cyril Handfelt sang the mass with John Stark of Woolstock at the organ.

Pallbearers were: Kenneth Sweedler, Leo Butler, Harold Keane, Don Thielen, James Holtkamp and Bernard Miller. The Williams American Legion post No. 633 was in charge of the services at the grave in St. Mary's cemetery, Williams. The Robbins funeral service of Williams was in charge.

Thomas Edward Uthe, 23, son of Aloules R. and Ottilia M. Leininger Uthe, was born at Gilbert, Iowa, on Nov. 4, 1926. When two years of age, he moved with his family to Boone, Iowa, from there to Jewell, Iowa, thence to Williams, March 1, 1936. He graduated from the Williams high school in 1944 and was a member of the 4-H boys club.

He entered the army in December, 1945, being discharged in November, 1946. Poor health made it necessary for him to move to a warmer climate. He moved to La Feria, Texas in February, 1947, where he farmed until November, 1949. He died Sunday afternoon, August 20, 1950, at the Brooke general hospital, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of the American Legion at La Feria, Texas and the Knights of Columbus, Harlingen, Texas.

He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Elaine and Patricia at home, and his grandparents, Mrs. Martha Uthe and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leininger of Boone, Iowa.
