Lauren (Mick) Tibbs, 60, rural Williams, died Oct. 22, 1995, at his home of natural causes. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Williams, with Father Philip F. Recker officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. today at Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams. There will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m. tonight at the church.

Lauren Tibbs, son of Lloyd E. Tibbs and Hazel C. Stuart, was born April 18, 1935 in Owasa. He attended Owasa High School. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He studied agricultural training under the G.I. Bill after his discharge from the Army. On July 6, 1957, he married Pauline M. Uthe at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams. The couple engaged in farming.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Tibbs, Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Tibbs, Webster City, David and Carol Tibbs, Urbandale, Jack Tibbs, Cedar Rapids, Allen and Jackie Tibbs, Alden, Andy Tibbs, Urbandale, Luke Tibbs, Williams; daughters and sons-in-law, Ramona and Greg Kraft, Goldfield, Lucy and John Riggins, Des Moines, Linda and Patrick Asmussen, Ankeny; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fenton and Marie Tibbs, Greensboro, N.C., Robert and Frances Tibbs, Madison, N.C., Daryl Tibbs, Iowa Falls; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and a grandson, Eric Tibbs.

Mr. Tibbs was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams, he served on the Alden Co-op Elevator Board and was also a Hospice volunteer.
