Just Eight Away from Record High of 625 Set in 1951

The latest Iowa fatalities:
Rosemary Beyer, 24, Osage school teacher, was fatally injured early Thursday in the collision of her car and a truck on Highway 218 near Osage.

In the Osage accident, the Beyer car collided headon with a semi-trailer truck not far from the teacher's home five miles northeast of Osage. Theresa Stereet, 24, home for the holidays with her Stacyville parents, was a passenger in the car. She was hospitalized at Mason City with critical injuries. Roland Walker, Albia, driver of the truck, was unhurt. He told patrolmen a fairly heavy shower was falling at the time of the collision.

[Rosemary Beyer is buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemeter, Williams, Iowa]
