Head injury is fatal to Dagit boy

Funeral services for Alan Ray Dagit, 9-year old son of Mrs. Eileen Dagit of Williams, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams with Father J.J. Brickley officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Williams.

Rosary will be this evening at 8 o'clock at the Surls-Grupe Funeral home in Williams.

Alan died Saturday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he had been transferred from the Ellsworth Memorial hospital in Iowa Falls after having suffered head injuries in an accident on Saturday, June 2, at a farm north of Williams.

He had been tossed from a three-wheeled recreational vehicle he had been operating and hit his head on a plow. His skull was fractured in the accident.

After being transferred from the Ellsworth Memorial hospital, he underwent surgery at Des Moines, but never recovered consciousness after that.

Alan Ray Dagit, son of Dorian and Eileen Mart Dagit, was born Feb. 20, 1964 at Iowa Falls. He had been attending elementary schools at Northeast Hamilton in Williams where he had just completed the third grade this spring.

He is survived by his mother; two sisters, Theresa of Woodward, and Marie at home; his grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Mart of Pocahontas, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; one sister and his grandparents.

He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church where he had served as an altar boy and was a member of the church choir.
