Robert “Bob” Schwiebert, 85, of Webster City, died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robert D. Schwiebert, son of Calvin F. and Clara Marie (Callies) Schwiebert, was born March 15, 1931 on the family farm in Cass Township north of Webster City. He became a child of God by Holy Baptism in the first month after birth. He was confirmed May 25, 1945 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. His confirmation verse was Rev. 3: 5-20.

He attended country school at White Fox Cass Township #1 for seven years. He attended 8th grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Parochial School and Webster City Lincoln High School for four years, graduating with the class of 1949. Following graduation he worked at the Star Laundry for one year. In 1951 he farmed the home place for one season. In 1952, he was called to serve in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War. He took basic training at Fort Lee, Virginia Quartermaster. He served 17 months at Kamp Klasheim in Salzburg, Austria. While serving there he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. He toured Germany, Italy, and Austria and cities such as Munich, Rome, Florence, Innsbruck.

In February 1954 he returned home with his honorable discharge. He worked for Young Love Construction out of Sioux City building concrete elevators in Woolstock, Ellsworth and Boone for eight months. During this time he met June Hansen, who became his wife on October 24, 1954. Bob worked for Naden Industries for 7 Ω years. In 1962 he went to work at Community Coop Elevator (now United Coop) where he worked for 40 years, retiring in November 2001.

Bob and June were avid campers for many years. They enjoyed going to Bluegrass Music Festivals where they made lots of friends. They also loved to travel to places like Hawaii, Spain, Brazil and many of the other 48 states.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June; his parents, Calvin and Clara; sisters, Evelyn Noffke, Velma Hanson; brother, Kendall (Bud) Schwiebert and nephew, Robert Goretska, Jr.

Bob was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
