Jake Ratcliff, 76, longtime Webster City resident, died Saturday evening at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. E. Edward Philgreen officiating. Burial is to be at the Cass Center Cemetery.
Jake K. Ratcliff, the son of Charlie and Bertha Huisinga Ratcliff, was born July 12, 1907 in the Saratoga Community in Hamilton County. He was reared and educated in that area and June 18, 1931, he was married to Beulah Bige.
The couple lived in the Webster City area and he was engaged in farming. In 1951 they moved to a farm three miles east of Eagle Grove where they farmed until his retirement in 1970, and they then moved to Webster City.
He is survived by his wife; two sons and three daughters, Vernon Ratcliff and Bruce Ratcliff, both of Webster City, Phyllis (Mrs. Wayne) Dohrmann of Manson, Caroline Sanders of Des Moines and Linda Shenkyr of Hopkins, Minn.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother and three sisters, John Ratcliff and Ida (Mrs. Martin) Bige, both of Webster City, Leona (Mrs. Peter) Bruno of Seal Beach, Calif., and Betty (Mrs. William) Hill of Fort Dodge, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald Ratcliff and Donald "Shorty" Ratcliff.
