Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Friday, June 11, 1937

Elmer A. Robbins was born in Hamilton county on a farm home near Mount Zion Methodist church Oct. 9, 1863, and died suddenly from the activities of this life May 14, 1937, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 22 days.

Oct. 8, 1891, he was united in marriage to Alice M. Butler, of this county, and to this union three daughters were born, Mrs. Frank Bever, of near Webster City; Mrs. William Cordes, of Kamrar, and one daughter, Mrs. Ella Clabaugh, who preceded him in death six years ago.

In addition to his beloved wife and two daughters he leaves to mourn his passing, one brother, Will Robbins, of Webster City, and two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Silver, of this city, and Mrs. B.C. Letts, of Eagle Grove, and also eight grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends.

Elmer A. Robbins was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clemuel Robbins, who came here in pioneer days from the state of Illinois and with the exception of seven years he had lived in the same vicinity all his life.

He was highly respected by his neighbors and was ever interested in the welfare of the community in which he lived. He had been familiar with hard toil and it was while engaged in the duties he loved that he was accidentally killed and suddenly called from the busy tasks of the farm to the Heavenly Home.

He was a member of the Mount Zion Methodist church for many years and was an associate of those saints of other years where memories are inseparable from those experiences of happy fellowship with a generation that is quickly passing into history.

He was very genial and kindly with a contagious optimism that made him a companionable man. He was a loving husband and affectionate father. Death found him ready for he was a lover of God and all things holy, and could say "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for Thou are with me."

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home with the Rev. J.J. Share officiating. Burial was made in Graceland cemetery.
