Severt G. Rullestad died Tuesday, July 29, at 4 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nickolai Stangeland following an illness of several months.

Severt G. Rullestad, son of Gunder and Gola Rullestad, was born in Norway, March 8, 1971 and died at Jewell, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 21 days.

He came to America in 1890, settling in Jewell where he remained for 60 years. He also lived two years at Huxley and 7 months at the Sunset home in Story City.

January 24, 1895, Mr. Rullestad was united in marriage to Gurine Herrem at Bethesda church, Jewell. Five children, four of whom survive were born to this union: Mrs. Lyle (Sylvia) Abrahamson of Plymouth, Ia.; Mrs. Nicholai (Ellen) Stangeland of Jewell; Ernest Rullestad of Jewell and Cecil Rullestad of Nevada. One son, Gilbert Rullestad died in 1930.

Mr. Rullestad is also survived by one brother, Lars of Huxley; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died April 25, 1949.

After completing his schooling in Norway, Severt Rullestad was engaged in farming for the remainder of his life until he retired.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at Jewell in the Becker Funeral home and Bethesda Lutheran church. Burial was in the Jewell cemetery.

Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated. Mrs. A. N. Fleenor and Mrs. Otto Fenton sang two duets: "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden." Mrs. John Twedt, a niece of the deceased sang "Near to the Heart of God" and a Norwegian hymn, "Jesus dine dybe Vunder."
