Gordon A. Foster, 87, longtime Webster City resident, died early this morning at the Southfield Care Center where he had been a patient for one week. He had been in ill health the past month.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Greg Boyles of Marshalltown and Rev. Robert Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home.

Gordon Antrim Foster, son of W.P. and Roxanne Antrim Foster, was born Feb. 5, 1895, at Pontiac, Ill. He moved to Clarion with his parents at the age of nine and was reared and educated in the Clarion community.

He was married March 7, 1917, to Edna Stroup at Holmes, Iowa. The couple farmed near Clarion until 1934 when they moved to Webster City. He was engaged in the auto mechanic trade here until 1973 when they moved to Peoria, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Lyle (Lois) Evans of Sun City, Ariz., Gordon Foster of Fort Dodge, John A. Foster of Scotsdale, Ariz., and Verne Foster of Webster City; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Aletha Cook and Electa Shupe, both of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by one son, Willis Foster; both parents and one sister.

He was a member of the First Baptist church.
