Kenneth Sweet, 67, Brainerd, Minn., a former Webster City resident, died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 12, at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby, Minn. The body will then be brought to Webster City for funeral services on Monday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home, Rev. Bruce Bane officiating. Burial will be in the Vegors Cemetery near Stratford. Graveside flag folding services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191. Visitation at Foster's will be after 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15.

Kenneth Sweet, son of Otis and Lena Wilkening Sweet, was born Oct. 26, 1921, in State Center. He graduated from State Center High School in 1940. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He married Mona Lynette Cook on Sept. 22, 1946, in McCallsburg. The couple moved to Webster City in 1959, where Mr. Sweet was employed as a sheet metal worker for Pfeiffer Heating and Air Conditioning Company.

Following the death of his first wife on Oct. 7, 1970, he married Betty Nelson Smart on Jan. 2, 1974, in New Orleans, La. The couple made their home in Webster City, and moved to Minnesota in 1977, where they owned and operated the Boarden Lake Resort in Garrison Township, Minn., for 12 years prior to retiring.

Mr. Sweet is survived by his wife Betty, two sons, Stephen Sweet, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Kevin Sweet, Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Lynette (Mrs. Dennis) Holdgrafer, Williams; Cindi (Mrs. Michael) Hovland, Stratford; and Patricia (Mrs. Walter) Capps. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Sweet was a member of the Episcopal Church, the U.S. Marine Corps Raiders Association, VFW Post 1816 in Garrison, and was a former Webster City VFW member.
