The Daily Freeman JournalHelen Peter, 74, of Stanhope, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Eichler officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Helen Joan Hove, daughter of Melford and LaVonne Wills Hove, was born September 15, 1941 in Webster City. She graduated from Stanhope Community School in 1959 and attended Waldorf College. Helen married Roger Walter Peter on July 10, 1976 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope. She worked for Bourns Laboratories in Ames for 30 years. The couple farmed northwest of Stanhope. They moved to Stanhope in 2004.
Helen is survived by sister, Mary (Jim) Kepler of Webster City; brothers, Paul (Linda) Hove of Kewanee, IL, Harold (Marcia) Hove of Stanhope, Roger Hove of Stanhope; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Miriam Peter of Stanhope; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on November 15, 2012 and a niece in infancy.
She was a past member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, a current member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Sparky's coffee club.
