Ruth McCollough died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Southfield Wellness Community following a brief illness.

Ruth was born October 3, 1925, to Ernest and Lena Watne Fischer in Webster City. She was valedictorian of the Webster City High School class of 1943 and a graduate of State Teachers College. She married Robert Lynn McCollough on June 29, 1947 at the English Lutheran Church in Webster City. She taught elementary school in Manson, Iowa City and Webster City.

Ruth is survived by son Kirk (Cindy), daughter Jennifer, grandchildren McKinley McCollough and Katelynn McCollough, brother-in-law, John McCollough, nieces and nephews Connie Sue (Jerry) Haidle, Blaine (Bonnie) McCollough, Linda Fischer, and David Fischer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Louise Fischer; sisters-in-law, Mary Donna McCollough and Leola McCollough.

Ruth was a 90 year member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in the church, was an avid golfer, a member of PEO, a Girl Scout leader and den mother, and she loved to play bridge. Most of all she loved raising her family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Family and friends are also welcome at the graveside service beginning at approximately 10:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 13.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial of your choosing may be made.
