Winslow W. Stark, 71, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, 1960, at his farm home in Fremont township. Death was due to a circulatory occlusion.

Winslow Stark, son of B. J. and Anna Schropfer Stark, was born July 11, 1888 on the farm in Fremont township. He received his elementary schooling in the rural schools of that vicinity and attended high school in Webster City, being graduated with the class of 1908. He attended Drake University law school and was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1912.

Mr. Stark rejoined the family farming enterprise in Fremont township and continued in this field until 1945, when he fulfilled his ambition to establish a registered Aberdeen Angus herd. Always an Angus enthusiast, he was widely known throughout the nation as an outstanding Angus breeder and won many top honors with his livestock. He was a director of the Des Moines River Valley Angus association. He especially enjoyed helping young Angus breeders establish new herds.

He was united in marriage in June, 1934, to Nell Thompson of Fort Dodge, and since their marriage had resided on the parental Stark farm in Fremont township.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, Max M. Stark of Woolstock; three sisters, Mrs. Harry A. (Catherine) Little of Webster City, Mrs. Henry O. (Cora) Hale of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Annetta H. Woods of Webster City; several nieces and nephews, Mrs. Stephen Hollern, Dallas, Texas, Miss Marjorie Fagan and Fred Fagan, Webster City, Attorney Maurice Stark, Fort Dodge, Richard Stark, Webster City, the Rev. Father John Winslow Stark, Waterloo and Miss Mary Helen Woods, Washington, D.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leo.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Duncombe where he was baptized and was a life member. The Rev. Father John Stark of Waterloo was celebrant of the Solemn Requiem High Mass. The Rev. Frances Illg of Ogden was deacon and Rev. Father Edward J. Hayes of Duncombe was sub-deacon. Accolytes were Fred, Joseph and William Fagan and Richard Stark, Jr.

Father Edward Hayes, chose for his text, St. Luke, Chapter 10, verses 23 to 37. The Duncombe choir sang the Requiem Mass.

Pallbearers were Hugh Ascherl, Fred Hagan, Richard Desmond, Lewis Nichols, Howard Breitenkamp, Elmer Jacobson, Selmer Michelson and Louis Olthoff. Honor bearers were members of the Fraternal Order of Elks, Lodge 302; Webster City, of which he was a member.

Mr. Stark was known by his genial and kindly nature and held in high esteem by all the community. He was a devout Christian, doing good wherever he could, and in his everyday living his life was a sermon to be practiced, endearing himself to his family through his expression of love. His sterling character made him a man to be admired, and his devotion to all will be greatly missed.
