Max M. Stark, 82, widely known Hamilton county farmer, died Tuesday afternoon at the Ellen's Convalescent Health Center in Fort Dodge. He had been a patient there the past six months.

He had been in ill health for seven years but more seriously ill the past eight months.

A Solemn Requiem High Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with the Rev. Father John Stark of Waterloo, son of Max Stark, celebrating the Mass. Bishop George J. Biskup, D.D., auxiliary bishop of Dubuque, will preside and perform the Absolution.

Burial will be in Calvary Catholic cemetery at Webster City.

Rosary will be at 8 o'clock this evening at the Foster funeral home.

Max M. Stark, son of B.J. and Anna Stark, was born Oct. 25, 1881, on a farm in Fremont township. He was reared and educated in Hamilton county and taught school for several terms in Fremont township.

He was united in marriage April 28, 1920, to Lillian O'Rourke, and the couple resided in Fort Dodge for nine years, then moved to Hamilton county. They farmed near Blairsburg for five years, then moved to their present farm home in Fremont township.

Mr. Stark retired from active farming 10 years ago, but he and Mrs. Stark continued to make their home on the farm.

He is survived by his wife and three sons: Maurice Stark of Fort Dodge, Dick Stark of Webster City and the Rev. Father John Stark of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Annetta Woods and Mrs. Harry (Catherine) Little, both of Webster City, and Mrs. Cora Hale of Fort Dodge, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Mr. Stark was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
