Thomas Patrick O'Connor, 81, of Webster City, a former longtime Sioux City resident, died Monday, February 8, 2016 at VanDiest Medical Center in Webster City following a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Crestivew Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Webster City the last five months. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Church of the Nativity in Sioux City with Father Jerome Cosgrove as Celebrant. Visitation will be on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service beginning Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Tom was born September 20, 1934 in Sioux City, the son of Frederick Elmer & Ethel (Humes) O'Connor. He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1952 and attended the University of South Dakota and Morningside College.

He married Mary Rita Ripp on August 11, 1956 at Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. The couple resided in Sioux City until December, 2015 when they moved to Webster City. He was employed as a chemical salesman and following his retirement he worked part time as a driver for DHL and also worked at Green Valley Golf Course.

Tom was a member of Church of the Nativity and a former member of the Elks, YMCA, Morningside Country Club, and Green Valley Golf Club.

Tom was known for this quick wit and sense of humor and was a big Bishop Heelan and Iowa State Cyclone fan. He enjoyed watching the history and golf channels.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Webster City, daughter, Paige McNeil of Cherokee, sons Kelly (Gina) of Independence, MO, Shawn of San Jose, CA and daughter Trish (Kevin) Bahrenfuss of Webster City; grandchildren Peyton O'Connor, Preston Birch, Paxton O'Connor, Taylor O'Connor, Scott O'Connor, Ben Bahrenfuss and Erin Bahrenfuss; brother Mike (Jean) O'Connor of Sioux City; sister Beverly Zieman of Cherokee, many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James.
