WIDELY KNOWN FARMER DIES

George Ambrose, for 24 Years a Resident of Fremont Township, is Dead

THE FUNERAL FRIDAY

Wife and Seven Children Left to Mourn His Passing.

George Ambrose, aged 65 years, died at 3 o'clock this morning at his farm home in Fremont township. A private funeral will be held Friday at 2 o'clock at the home, conducted by Dr. R. T. Chipperfield.

Mr. Ambrose had been ailing with troubles incident to old age for the past eighteen months. He had been confined to his bed more or less for the past six months. In September, however, he made a trip back to the old home in West Virginia, returning home the first week in October. He had failed rapidly ever since and his passing was not unexpected.

Mr. Ambrose was 65 years of age last March and was born in Berkley Springs, West Virginia. When a young man he moved to Lexington, Ill., and it was there in 1877 that he married Miss Jessie Mahan. The family came to Hamilton county in 1894 and moved onto the old Ed Gilbert farm in the same township, where they lived ever since.

Beside the wife there are seven children, as follows: Bernie, Harry, Walter, Chester, Mrs. Edward Lindsey, Mrs. Ole Lindsey and George. All reside hereabouts except Mrs. Ole Lindsey, who lives at Davenport.

The Ambrose family have been prominent in Fremont township ever since they came there 24 years ago. Mr. Ambrose was a man widely known and held in the highest of esteem by all who knew him. He was always a leader in his township in all those things which make for the betterment of the community and the old neighbors and friends there looked upon him as a man of unusual attainments. In his passing the deep sympathies of all are extended the sorrowing family.

[Burial in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Hamilton Co., Iowa]
