Larry J. Carson passed away peacefully at Agrace Hospice Care on September 19, 2015. Larry, son of Joe and Lenora Carson, was born on February 14, 1937 in Webster City, Iowa. Larry began college at Iowa State University in 1954 and after transferring to UW-Madison, graduated in 1960 with a degree in banking and finance. He started his career at the Bank of Madison. He married Mary Ann Elskamp on May 27, 1961. Mary Ann and Larry moved with their children to Lancaster in 1970. Larry later became President of the Lancaster State Bank (later M&I Bank Lancaster). He served on the boards of the Lancaster Memorial Hospital and the Wisconsin Bankers Association. He retired from banking in 1994. In 2004, Larry and Mary Ann moved back to the Madison area.

Larry loved to travel with his family, including camping trips in the early years. Other trips included vacations to South Dakota, Florida, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Hawaii and Europe. Larry enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger hockey, football and basketball, especially when he could share his enjoyment with his sons, Kenny and Mike. In recent years, Larry was a regular at C’s Restaurant and Bakery, and he thanks his friends there for great conversations and laughter. More than anything, Larry loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. We will all miss his hugs, tenderness and devotion to his family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, MaryAnn, son Kenneth; and sister Donna. He is survived by daughters, Donna (Mark) Baker and Teresa (Richard) Flamang; son Michael (Gesina Seiler) Carson; grandchildren, Kathryn and Anne Baker, Lauren and Grant Flamang and Jacob Carson.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Avenue, Madison, WI. The visitation will start at 9:00 a.m., the service and celebration at 11:00 a.m., with a lunch following the celebration.

Memorial donations can be made to Agrace Hospice Care, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
