Ruth Eloida Orcutt, the daughter of Truero Gay and Jessie Camfield Mann, was born September 2, 1914 in Hardy, Arkansas. Her childhood years were spent in Des Moines, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from East High School.

Ruth married Noel Paul Orcutt o June 2, 1933 in Des Moines Iowa. following their marriage, they made their home in various communities, where her husband was a minister. Throughout their married life, they lived in Des Moines, Lead, CO, Lewis, IA, Allison, IA, Hawarden, Sioux rapids-Rossie, Dodgeville, WI, Davenport, IA, Jewell, IA, Blencoe, IA, Olds, IA, Glyndon, MN and Farragut IA. Since 1987, they had resided in Spencer, Iowa. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa. Ruth enjoyed crafts, gardening and music, and had served as a church organist in several congregations.

Mrs. Orcutt passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Wednesday, April 9, 1997 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Noel Paul Orcutt on January 22, 1995; one daughter, Marilyn Christenson and two brothers: Winston and Byron Mann.

She is survived by four daughters: Donna Yeager of Spencer, Janice - Mrs. Don Reck of Enterprise, AL, Pat - Mrs. Alan Jaycox of Denison, IA, and Barbara - Mrs. Charles Christenson of Marathon, IA; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
