PIONEER SETTLER OF COUNTY PASSES AWAY

Peter Wessels for Forty Years Resident of Hamilton County, Dies at Home in Kamrar.

Peter Wessels, one of the oldest settlers of Hamilton county, died at his home in Kamrar last Saturday afternoon at the age of seventy-three years, of troubles incident to old age.

He was born in Germany in 1855 and came to this country in 1865, first settling at Freeport, Ill. Four years later he came to Hamilton county and settled on a farm three miles east of Kamrar, where he lived until a few years ago. In 1872 he was married to Miss Margaret Delfs, of Webster City, who survives him. Their union was blessed by five children, all of whom are yet living. They are: Herman, Peter and John Wessels, all living near Kamrar, Mrs. Tim Barkema of Jewell and Mrs. Rev. Jensen of Waukon, Ia.

Mr. Wessels has been for many years a faithful member of the German Presbyterian church east of Kamrar, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The funeral services were held in the above church Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
