John Wessels, 79, longtime resident of the Kamrar community, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient for the past month. He had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar. The Rev. Harold DeVries will officiate and burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home unti 12:30 p.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church and will lie in state there until the time of service.

John Wessels, son of Peter and Margretha Wessels, was born Feb. 9, 1879, on a farm near Kamrar. Mr. Wessels had always lived in the Kamrar vicinity where his main interest was farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wessels was baptized in the Presbyterian faith.
