Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kamrar Presbyterian church for Mrs. Maggie Wepel, who died at her home near Kamrar Saturday morning at the age of 84. The Rev. Sinning officiated and burial was made in the Presbyterian cemetery.

Mrs. Wepel was born Jan. 19, 1858 in Ostfriesland, Germany, and when she was six years old came to this country with her parents. They located first at Freeport, Ill., and then after five years there moved to Iowa, to a farm in Grundy county, near Steamboat Rock.

Five years later the family bought a farm near Wellsburg. Mr. and Mrs. Wepel were married in Webster City Feb. 9, 1878 where she had come after a few years on the family farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Wepel made their home in Webster City for several years and also lived on places near Jewell and Aplington a number of years before they purchased a farm in Kossuth county. They lived there seven years and Mr. Wepel died there. The remaining years, Mrs. Wepel spent between Webster City and the home in Kossuth county. Since 1920 she had lived in Kamrar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one daughter, one step-daughter, one brother and a sister.

One son, Heiko, of Webster City, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive. One granddaughter, Mrs. Ray Christenson has made her home with Mrs. Wepel the past 34 years.

Mrs. Wepel was baptized in the Christian faith when a small girl in Germany. She was the widow of a Civil War veteran.

A loving mother and good neighbor, she will be missed by her host of friends in the Kamrar community and other places where she made her home.
