H.A. Wepel, 83, a former Webster City resident, died Thursday morning at the United hospital in Blue Earth, Minn., where he had been a patient the past three weeks. He had been in ill health the past four years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Robbins officiating and with burial in the Presbyterian cemetery near Kamrar.

Heiko Albert Wepel, son of Bertus and Maggie Rust Wepel, was born Sept. 27, 1886, at Aplington, Iowa. When he was a small boy, he moved to Webster City where he was reared and educated.

He was united in marriage Jan. 3, 1921 to Gertie Huisinga and the couple farmed in the Webster City area. In 1947, the couple moved to Wadena, Minn., where they also engaged in farming. In February, 1970, they moved to Blue Earth, Minn.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters and one son: Mrs. Margaret Lash, Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Lester (Helen) Elliott, Greenfield, Iowa, and Mrs. Virgil (Arlene) Moench, Bertha, Minn., and Bert Wepel, Buffalo Center, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one niece, Mrs. Roy Christenson, Webster City.

Mr. Wepel was preceded in death by one son, his parents, one brother and one sister.

He attended the Baptist church in Blue Earth, Minn.
