Gertie Wepel, 91, Webster City, died May 10, 1994 at Southfield Care Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery, east of Kamrar. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home until time of service.

Gertie Huisinga was born July 9, 1902 on a farm north of Kamrar. She attended rural schools in Kamrar.

On Jan. 3, 1921 she married Heiko Wepel at Webster City. The couple farmed in the Kamrar area. In 1947, they moved to a farm near Wadena, Minn. In 1968, they moved to Blue Earth, Minn. Her husband died in May of 1970. She then resided in New Mexico, Idaho and Minnesota. She moved back to Iowa in 1985 and had resided at Southfield since May of 1991.

She is survived by daughters, Margaret Lash of Boone, Helen Elliott of Fontanelle; son, Bert Wepel of Webster City; 19 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 52 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Julie Kreitlon of Waterloo, Helen Wallace of Wadena, Minn., Annie Gibbs of Lake Charles, La., Emma Spitz of Frankenmuth, Mich., Pearl Waites of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, Earnest Henning of Forest City, Ervin Henning of Algona, Earl and Jules Henning, both of Bricelyn, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents; son, Vernon; daughter, Arlene Moench; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Lucy Brovick.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City.
