Fred F. Welp, 81, longtime resident of the Webster City-Kamrar area, died Friday noon at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient for three days.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Marvin Camp officiating and with burial in the Presbyterian cemetery east of Kamrar.

A prayer service was held Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at Foster's.

Fred F. Welp, son of Fred and Jessie Smit Welp, was born July 26, 1902, at Kamrar and was educated in the Kamrar community.

On Aug. 8, 1923, he was married to Jennie Mamminga, and the couple farmed southeast of Webster City until 1957 when they moved into Webster City.

He owned and operated the F and B Feed Service with his daughter until his retirement in 1969.

He was preceded in death by his wife in June, 1968.

After his retirement he was employed part-time at Smith Standard Service and Halder Service Station.

For the past 16 months, he had resided at the Stratford Care Center.

He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Welp of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.
