JOHN FONKEN AGE 61 DIES

Widely Known Kamrar Resident Dies Following Long Illness

FUNERAL IS MONDAY

Kamrar, Iowa - John Fonken died at his home in Kamrar last evening following an illness of six months duration. He had been critically ill for several weeks.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Kamrar Presbyterian church. The pastor, the Rev. H.F. Sinning, will officiate and burial will be made in the Presbyterian cemetery.

Mr. Fonken was born in 1869 in Illinois and when a child the family moved to Butler county. They came to Iowa in 1881, settling near Kamrar. He was married in 1892 [to Harmke Rigter]. Mr. Fonken was widely known in this area and the Kamrar vicinity, and was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Mr. Fonken is survived by his wife and one son, Conrad, age 35. An elder son died at the age of 13. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. A. T. Arends, of near Kamrar; Mrs. Conrad Van Langen and Miss Annie Fonken, both of Kamrar; and three brothers, Hiram, of Kansas City; Nann and Joe, both of Kamrar. He also had three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
