Opal L. Mertz, 86, Webster City, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Hamilton County Hospital where she had been a patient for five days. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2:30 p.m at the Foster Funeral home, Rev. Raymond Roden officiating. Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation at Foster's will be after 5 p.m. today until time of service.

Opal Lorrene Mertz, daughter of James and Mary Katheryn Yaus Mertz, was born March 29, 1902, in Webster City. She was a graduate of Webster City High School. She was employed at the First National Bank, Human Services of Hamilton County, the National Chiropractic Association, and was a bookkeeper at Thompson Pharmacy for several years. She retired in 1975.

She is survived by a sister Velva Jacobson, Ames, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
