Daily Freeman Journal, Monday, July 24, 1995

Marion Welp, 77, Webster City, died July 22, 1995, at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles Smith officiating. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Presbyterian Cemetery, east of Kamrar. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. tonight at the funeral home until the time of service.

Marion Donald Welp, son of Eppo and Bertha Mechaelsen Welp, was born June 30, 1918, on a farm south of Kamrar. He graduated from Kamrar High School in 1936. He farmed south of Kamrar and retired in 1972. Then he moved to Kamrar. He had resided at Southfield Care Center since December of 1994.

He was survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Evonne Welp, Davenport, Edwin and Jeanette Welp, Ames, Dorothy Welp; Jewell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene Fonken, Kamrar, Eunice and Ed Darnell, Branson, Mo., Dorothy and Walter Donahue, Kamrar; several-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willis Welp; sister, Helen Welp.

Mr. Welp was a member of the Kamrar United Methodist Church. He was also the treasurer of the Kamrar Lion's Club for 12 years, a former mayor of Kamrar, a former member of the Kamrar-Stanhope Cooperative Telephone Board and a former member of the Kamrar-Stanhope Elevator Cooperative Board.

Memorials may be given to the Kamrar United Methodist Church or the Kamrar Fire and Rescue Unit.
