On Thursday, May 7, 2015, Dr. Renner (Chip) Ventling of Sun City West, Arizona, formerly of Webster City and Eagle Grove, made his transition to eternity and was received into the glorious company of Christ, our Savior, due to complications from an extremely rare auto immune illness.

He was born and raised in Webster City, where he was a member of and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, Iowa. Most recently he attended Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona. He absolutely loved growing up in Webster City, and among his fondest boyhood memories was attending high school and participating on the championship football and track teams. Dr. Ventling was a retired educator who served as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent in Iowa, Michigan, Arizona, and Indiana for 36 years. One of the highlights of his rewarding career was his tenure as a teacher and coach in Eagle Grove from 1971-1974. After attending Webster City Junior College, he earned Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa, a Master's Degree from Northeast Missouri State University, and a Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Ventling was proud of his service to his county in the United State Army during the Vietnam conflict.

He was preceded in death by his cherished brother, Wynne Ventling. Those left to mourn his death, celebrate his life, honor his memory, and carry on his legacy of making the world a better place until they reunite again include: daughters Angel Ventling (Alicio Arrua) of Bogota, Colombia, and Amber Ventling of Des Moines, Iowa; mother Thelma Ventling, of Davenport, IA; sister Madonna Ventling of Davenport, Iowa; brother Dr. Wayne Ventling of Webster City, Iowa; spouse LeAnn (Rex) Ventling of Des Moines, Iowa; grandson Ayden Ventling of Des Moines, Iowa; five nieces; four nephews; several cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.

A Christian Celebration of Life Service commemorating Dr. Ventling's life and his victory over death will be conducted on May 15, 10:30 AM at Boman Funeral Home in Webster City, Iowa. Time will be devoted during the service for anyone who wishes to share a story, an anecdote, or make any personal comments regarding Dr. Ventling's life. A luncheon will be held after the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Dr. Ventling cherished life, savored his career as an "educarer," traveled extensively, was an avid supporter of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, enjoyed being a summer citizen of Logan, Utah, had numerous hobbies, activities, and interests, especially serving as a volunteer usher at spring training baseball games, and loved his family and the Lord more than life itself.
