W.E. (Ed) Burgin, 95, longtime Webster City area resident, died Wednesday, May 6 at the Hamilton County Hospital where he had been a patient for 12 days.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 8 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Sorensen officiating and burial in the Graceland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home from 4 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Friday.

William Edward Burgin, son of Henry and Cory Burgin, was born Dec. 31, 1891 at Old Fort, N.C. He was educated there. He moved to Iowa at the age of 21 and was employed in the Iowa Falls area in farm work.

He married Guendola Cox at Dexter, Minn. The couple farmed in the Iowa Falls area. In 1939, he moved to a farm south of Webster City. The couple retired in 1951 and moved into Webster City. He was preceded in death by his wife in September of 1983.

Survivors are three daughters and two sons, Dorothea (Mrs. Milton) McGill of Centerville, Carl of Cincinnati, Oh, LeRoy of Webster City, Wanda (Mrs. Robert) Shaeffer of Couderay, Wis., Sally (Mrs. Derrald) Bauer of Numa; a nephew, Walter Burgin of Norwalk, who was raised in the Burgin home; 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son in infancy, one granddaughter, his parents, two sisters and three
brothers.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows and the Webster City Senior Citizens.
