William Chalma, 83, died at his farm home near Jewell Saturday afternoon.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist church in Story City with the Rev. Duane O'Tolle officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Jewell. The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral home until about noon Tuesday.
The casket will not be opened at the church.
He was born Oct. 18, 1894 at Kamrar and was the son of Severina Torreson and John B. Chalma.
On April 4, 1921 he was married at Ames to Isaphine Dawson and the couple had always farmed in the Jewell community.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Abel (Shirley) Tesdall, Jewell; and Mrs. John (Doris) Brock of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Peterson of Ellsworth and Mrs. Jenny Klumb of Anaheim, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and one daughter, Marian Templer.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist church in Story City.
