Robert Otho Wepel, son of Heiko H. and Tillie Wepel, was born on a farm seven miles south of Webster City June 18, 1924. He died suddenly following a heart attack on Feb. 22, 1966, at the age of 41 years, 8 months and 4 days.

He attended Webster City high school and was graduated with the class of 1941. He was united in marriage to Frances Forbes Jan. 22, 1949, at Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by one brother, Earnest, who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Luvern and Harvey Forbes, both of Omaha, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Don (Shirley) Sandberg of Las Vegas; 10 step-grandchildren; three brothers, George and John R. Wepel, both of Webster City; Albert Wepel of Woolstock, and three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Gertie) Nelson of Ellsworth, Mrs. Helena Hanson of Webster City, and Mrs. Delbert (Gladys) Flanagan of Pleasanton, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Wepel farmed for several years near Humboldt and then moved to California for one year before moving to Las Vegas 11 years ago, his home since. He had been working as a hotel decorator in Las Vegas.

He entered the armed forces in World War II and saw duty in the Philippines and Japan.

Funeral services were held in Las Vegas at the Palm Mortuary on Friday, Feb. 25, with the Rev. Don Loving of the Red Rock Baptist church officiating.

Mrs. Helena Hanson, George, John R. and Clair Wepel, all of Webster City, and Mrs. Delbert Flanagan of Pleasanton, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle McIntyre of Stratford attended the funeral services.
